Jessica Jones creator Melissa Rosenberg is behind Rules of Magic, a Practical Magic prequel pilot that comes with the commitment of a 10-script order. Based on the 1998 Griffin Dunne film starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, Rules of Magic revolves around three siblings -- Franny, Jet and Vincent Owens -- who learn they are descended from a bloodline of witches. Dunham is executive producing Generation, about "a group of high school students whose exploration of modern sexuality (devices and all) tests deeply entrenched beliefs about life, love and the nature of family in their conservative community." Generation will be written by 17-year-old Zelda Barnz and her dad, Daniel Barnz, who is producing with husband Ben Barnz. HBO Max has also ordered Red Bird Lane, a morality and psychological horror show from John Wells, revolving around eight strangers who arrive at an isolated house.
