Aguirre-Sacasa, the chief creative officer of Archie Comics who developed Riverdale and spinoffs Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Katy Keene for TV, is "spearheading a new take on the former Freeform mega-hit," reports The Hollywood Reporter's Lesley Goldberg. "The new PLL is said to feature a new story and new characters, with Aguirre-Sacasa set to pen the script. A network is not yet attached and the project has not yet been taken out to possible buyers, though sources tell THR that WarnerMedia-backed streamer HBO Max is considered to be the target destination for the potential series." Pretty Little Liars ran for seven seasons, from 2010 to 2016, spawning two short-lived spinoffs: 2014's Pretty Little Liars: Ravenswood and 2019's Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
