According to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, NBC is “eyeing a continuation” of The Office for the 2018-19 season, with a mixture of new and old cast members — but not Steve Carell — set at Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “The search for a new RM/boss is said to be already underway,” reports Ausiello, adding that “NBC declined to comment on or confirm any details of this story.” The American version of The Office ran from 2005 to 2013. If The Office does return next year, it would have been absent from the airwaves for just five years. Will & Grace was revived to critical and ratings success after an 11-year absence. NBC Entertainment president Bob Greenblatt said in August that his revival wish list included ER, The West Wing and The Office, and that Office executive producer Greg Daniels had an "open invitation" to revive the show.
