O'Donnell went into great detail of the Frankie Shaw Showtime series' demise in an interview with The Daily Beast. Weaving went to O'Donnell to complain about SMILF creator Shaw's behavior on set, including mishandling the filming of sex scenes. O'Donnell passed on the complaint to producers and the studio, which launched an investigation that led to SMILF's cancelation. O'Donnell says Weaving's complaint was "confusing" to her since she “never saw one problem, never heard one complaint." O'Donnell also admits she now regrets going to producers with Weaving's complaint. "I was stunned and kind of regretful that I had even said anything because that wasn’t the ending that I thought was going to happen, and that wasn’t what I perceived to be the reality of the show," she says.
