SNL boss Lorne Michaels donated $5,000 to Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins

The Hollywood Reporter reports of Michaels' donation in a story about how Hollywood moguls overwhelmingly give to Democrats. The story comes six days after Cecily Strong skewered Collins in her portrayal on last week's Saturday Night Live after the Maine senator voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Hollywood Reporter story also comes days after former cast member Taran Killam said Michaels made the SNL writers go easy on Donald Trump in the months before he hosted the show as a presidential candidate in 2015.
