Saturday Night Live received nearly $16 million in reimbursements for Season 41, which ended in May 2016. For Seasons 39 and 40, SNL received $27 million in tax breaks, reports USA Today. Critics of New York state's tax breaks say it's laughable that a New York institution like SNL gets tax breaks so it won't move to another state. "I think the laugh is on us," said Ron Deutschof the Fiscal Policy Institute, a liberal think tank in Albany. "Saturday Night Live is entering its 43rd season, and the likelihood of Saturday Night Live leaving for another state is probably minimal at best."
