The former White Stripes frontman has been tapped as this week's last-minute Saturday Night Live musical guest replacement for country singer Wallen, who was dumped Wednesday after violating COVID-19 protocols by partying maskless. This will be White's third time performing on SNL as a solo act after previous stints in 2012 and 2018. "Jack White is coming in, and there could be some… other stuff," Lorne Michaels said on the Today show this morning, hinting at other surprises. “Calling someone on a Thursday to be here for a Friday is, uh, complicated. It has to be people who are ready to go… and (White is) always good on the show.” As for Wallen, Michaels said he “probably isn’t the first country singer (or) the first person from rock ‘n’ roll who partied after, in that case, a football game… But we’re just living in a different time, and everything it scrutinized.”
