Former showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, who left amid a reported budget dispute, have yet to be officially replaced. But Starz CEO Chris Albrecht says that they will still be "involved as much as they can be" in the next season, adding that they were neither fired nor did they quit. Albrecht suggested that author Neil Gaiman will take over showrunner duties -- which Gaiman disputes. Albrecht added that American Gods “has faced many of the challenges that terrific, complex premium shows face when trying to get successive seasons, especially when art comes before commerce."
