Bill Carter, the former New York Times TV writer whose book on the Letterman-Leno late-night wars was made into the HBO movie Late Shift, is about to see another of his TV books adapted -- this time, as a potential TV series. Carter released Desperate Networks in 2006, and is set to write the TV adaptation. Desperate Networks focused primarily on ABC’s trio of successful shows in the 2004-05 season (Desperate Housewives, Lost and Grey’s Anatomy), along with the early-2000s rise of reality TV, American Idol and Donald Trump's The Apprentice.
