Hawkins, who joined the Dave Grohl-led band in 1997 after two years as Alanis Morissette’s drummer and who was a key part in the Foo Fighters' sound, died Friday in Bogotá, Colombia hours before the band was scheduled to perform at the Festival Estéreo Picnic. Hawkins' death comes nine days before Foo Fighters are scheduled to perform at the Grammys. Hawkins and his bandmates appeared just last month on Jimmy Kimmel Live! promoting their new horror movie Studio 666. With Foo Fighters, Hawkins made numerous appearances on TV, from the final episode of Late Show with David Letterman to James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" to SNL.
