NBC has given a straight-to-series order to the untitled comedy from 30 Rock's Fey and Robert Carlock, starring Danson as a wealthy businessman who is unexpectedly elected mayor of Los Angeles. Danson will work on the mayoral comedy after The Good Place, while Fey and Carlock are coming off of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. "We are so excited that this is the first NBC show we get to greenlight straight to series," said George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment. "It's with talent that we know and love and who have worked on some of the most beloved shows in our network’s history. We can’t wait." According to The Hollywood Reporter, this series has been in the works for more than a year. Fey and Carlock also considered reteaming with Alec Baldwin for another project.
