Ryan Ferguson, 37, was 19 in 2003 when he was arrested for the 2001 strangulation and beating death of a newspaper editor in Columbia, Missouri. The arrest was primarily the result of one of his friend falsely dreaming of their involvement in the crime, despite a lack of physical evidence. Ferguson served 10 years in prison and was freed in 2013 with the help of Making a Murderer attorney Kathleen Zellner. He collected $2.75 million in a settlement agreement.
