NBC is developing a TV series based on Jeffery Deaver's bestselling book series and the hit 1999 movie starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie, which grossed $151 million worldwide. The Bone Collector book series launched in 1997, consisting of 11 books, the latest of which was released in 2014. According to Variety, The Bone Collector series, written by VJ Boyd and Mark Bianculli, "follows Lincoln Rhyme, a retired genius forensic criminologist left paralyzed after an accident on the job. When a harrowing case brings him back to the force, Rhyme partners up with an ambitious young detective, Amelia Sachs, to take down some of the most dangerous criminals in the U.S." Rhyme and Sachs were portrayed by Washington and Jolie in the film from director Phillip Noyce.
