The pickup of the Ruby Rose-led DC Comics drama marks TV's first live-action scripted series with a lesbian superhero as its star, played by an out actress. The Greg Berlanti-produced Batwoman from writer Caroline Dries follows Kate Kane as “she soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence," according to the official logline. The pickup of Katy Keene means Ashleigh Murray is leaving Riverdale. Murray will co-star with Lucy Hale in the title role playing characters who chase their musical dreams. Meanwhile, Kennedy McMann stars as Nancy Drew, an 18-year-old recent high school grad who spends her time after graduation embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation. Nancy Drew is from Gossip Girl and Dynasty's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. ALSO: Watch the first Batwoman teaser.
