The Chi's Jasmine Davis leaves the series over its Disney connection

The transgender actress, who plays a transgender character on the Showtime drama, alluded to the show being part of Disney's 20th Television in announcing she's quitting. “Due to the many inquiries I’m officially announcing. I will not be in season 5 of @SHOTheChi and I will no longer be part of #thechi/#disneyproduction,” Davis tweeted. “Sending a BIG THANKS to all of my family and supporters/fans who have embraced me with along this journey. #selfworth.” TVLine confirmed her exit. Disney has come under fire for its handling of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill, which prohibits public school teachers from discussing sexual orientation or gender identity in the classroom.
