Amazon announced via teaser video that its dystopian alternate history drama, based on Philip K. Dick’s 1962 novel, is coming to an end after the upcoming fourth season. Premiering in January 2015, The Man in the High Castle depicted a world in which the Nazis and Imperial Japan won World War II, resulting in them carving up the crown jewel of North America. Executive producer Isa Dick Hackett, Philip K. Dick's daughter, said of ending the series: “I believe fans will be thrilled and satisfied by the epic conclusion we have in store for them.” Hackett added: "I do think that we end on something that would be very familiar and I think particularly satisfying for PKD fans, and I would imagine that he would appreciate it a great deal, my father, that is." Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said of ending the series: “The Man in the High Castle helped define Amazon Prime Video in the genre space, and we are grateful and excited that we’ll continue to be in business with Isa and Electric Shepherd Productions for future Philip K. Dick adaptations.”
