New York Times reporters have in the past phoned in or visited MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show to discuss their scoops. But not anymore, according to Vanity Fair's Joe Pompeo. He reports that The Times is weary of its reporters and editors going on cable news shows that appear to be partisan, like Maddow's MSNBC show and Lemon's CNN show, as well as MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell. Also banned are Fox News' Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson's shows, though New York Times reporters rarely visited those shows. Meanwhile, The Washington Post says its reporters are allowed to go on all shows because "we view all broadcast programs as opportunities to expose our journalism to different audiences."
