Chris Bright, director of public training for the LGBTQ suicide prevention organization the Trevor Project, called the Netflix drama's teen suicide portrayal "pretty gruesome." But Paul Gionfriddo, president and CEO of Mental Health America, which advised Netflix on The Politician, credits the streaming service for improving on its portrayal of teen suicide from 13 Reasons Why.
