Virginia's attorney general's office announced today it has charged Antle, owner of the Myrtle Beach Safari in South Carolina, with one felony count of wildlife trafficking, one felony count of conspiracy to wildlife traffic and 13 additional misdemeanor charges relating to animal cruelty and the Endangered Species Act. The attorney general's animal law unit conducted a months-long investigation of Antle's zoo, as well as Wilson’s Wild Animal Park in Winchester, Virginia. The office says it discovered that Antle and the owner of Wilson’s Wild Animal Park, Keith Wilson, had allegedly trafficked lion cubs between Virginia and South Carolina. The announcement also revealed that Wilson is facing one felony count and 17 misdemeanor charges, while two of Antle's daughters are facing misdemeanor charges. The indictment comes one week after Antle announced he was starring in a docuseries called Tiger Kingdom: More Than a King.
