The Moonlight Oscar winner is teaming with Tigers Are Not Afraid director Issa López on a potential fourth season of True Detective, which will be dubbed "Night Country." López would pen the script and Jenkins would serve as executive producer and director of the pilot. True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, who parted ways with HBO in 2020, "will also likely be credited as an exec producer though he is not expected to formally involved in a fourth season," according to The Hollywood Reporter. True Detective premiered to a critically acclaim in 2014, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. It returned for a critically derided Season 2 in 2015, led by Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly and Vince Vaughn. It returned to critical acclaim for Season 3 in 2019 with Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff.
