"Though these shows on a surface level seem as different as black hats and white hats, there are more similarities than you may assume," says Kayla Cobb in comparing the HBO drama to the NBC comedy. She notes that Ted Danson's Good Place role is very similar to Anthony Hopkins' Westworld character. "While The Good Place is explicitly about morality, Westworld is essentially designed to be its own morality play," she says, adding: "Neither The Good Place‘s humans nor Westworld‘s hosts deserve to be where they are, but in these strict universes it’s also unclear if there is a place for them."
