Whoopi Goldberg reveals in a View video message that she almost died from pneumonia

In a video message introduced by Joy Behar on The View this morning, Goldberg revealed she was sick with pneumonia in both lungs and that it was septic. “Yes, I came very close to leaving the earth,” she said. “Good news, I didn’t. Thank you for all of your good wishes, all of the wonderful things that people have been saying. Even people who aren’t huge fans of mine have actually been saying nice thing about me.” Addressing her fellow panelists, Goldberg said: "Ladies, I cannot wait to see y’all. This has been interesting and I’ll tell you about it when we’re all at the table. To everybody, see you soon.” Goldberg has been missing from the ABC morning show since Feb. 6, sparking speculation at the time that she might be a surprise host of the Oscars.
