Gameday broadcasting from Augusta, Georgia started out as a half-joking, half-serious email thread in the spring. The Saturday morning pregame show will be a mix of said it will be a mix of golf meets college football. “First and foremost we’re a college football preview show and we don’t want to lose sight of that,” says Jim Gaiero, Gameday's lead producer. “We want to give people a taste of what the Masters is and how special the place is. There’s certain sporting events around the world that are iconic, and this is to me the most iconic golf tournament. It’s going to be very similar to what we did in New York City as far as touching upon the location and the specialness about that location. College football and the Masters — and golfers in general — have a lot of ties because a lot of the players are huge college football fans."
