Dan’s longtime girlfriend Louise Goldufski, played by Katey Sagal, officially became a Conner in last night's episode. But despite the wedding, the episode highlight was the tornado that appeared to be a nod to Season 1 episode “Toto, We’re Not in Kansas Anymore. Turns out, the tornado wasn't a callback. But executive producer Dave Caplan says they couldn't just have a traditional wedding. "A traditional wedding episode wouldn’t have felt like The Conners," he says with a laugh. "A lot of things in the Conners’ lives are tumultuous, so it only made sense to have a tumultuous wedding as well…. A lot of what the Conners are about is perseverance. Giving them a wedding that is challenging and seeing them persevere and find happiness amongst the literal rubble appealed to us."
