According to Florida governor Ron DeSantis' office, The View recently invited the Republican governor onto the show, but the governor has declined the offer.
Bryan Griffin, the Deputy Press Secretary for DeSantis, tweeted on Monday, "@TheView emailed our office on Friday asking for us to arrange an appearance from Governor DeSantis on the show. 'We would be honored,' they wrote." He then asked his followers,"Thoughts?"

Tuesday morning, Griffin shared the governor's office's response to the invite, in a letter quoting The View's hosts that asked "which of the following statements from the hosts of The View do you recommend our team consider when deciding if the interview would be a geniune puruit of the truth?"
In one quote, Joy Behar calls DeSantis "a negligent, homicidal sociopath," and in another quote, Sunny Hostin calls him "fascist and a bigot."
The governor's office ended the letter by saying, "We will pass on this offer."

DeSantis is attempting to ban all abortions in Florida after 15 weeks, with no exceptions for victims of rape, incest, or human trafficking. As of June 30, a Florida judge blocked DeSantis' efforts, but the governor has said he would continue to push for the legislation.
The View airs weekdays at 11:00 AM ET on ABC. The show's 25th season is set to wrap this Friday, August 5.
