The Murdaughs are getting the drama treatment.
The prominent family recently got the docuseries treatment with Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty on HBO Max, and now it's set to become a true-crime drama at Hulu. Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears, Mommy Dead and Dearest) and Michael D. Fuller (Locke & Key) will adapt the popular Murdaugh Murders podcast for the streamer. Podcast host Mandy Matney, Nick Antosca, and Alex Hedlund will serve as executive producers.
The series will tell the story of Alex Murdaugh, the prominent South Carolina attorney who has faced dozens of criminal charges, including embezzlement and murder. Per the official logline, "The series will be based on Alex Murdaugh’s stranger-than-fiction family drama, a riveting account drawing from countless hours of reporting by Matney, as well as exclusive, insider knowledge from years spent following the case."
Murdaugh Murders, hosted by Matney, has racked up some 26 million downloads since it debuted in June 2021. The podcast investigates the various crimes of the family and seeks to expose the truth via local reporting in South Carolina.
