The January 6 House Select Committee hearings have been heavy, but Tuesday's proceedings featured a surprising moment of levity, all thanks to a cameo from the Queer Eye kitchen.
While testifying remotely, Kellye SoRelle, an attorney for far-right extremist group the Oath Keepers, used an image from Netflix's Queer Eye as her Zoom green-screen background. Crooked Media host Erin Ryan recognized SoRelle's background and did a reverse image search on Google to identify where she'd seen it before. Ryan then posted a side-by-side of SoRelle's hearing interview and the kitchen from Queer Eye Season 3, quickly going viral along the way.

"Great catch," one user replied. "I was admiring that kitchen and surprised by it. She doesn’t go with that kitchen."
Twitter users began sharing memes and making jokes about the background, which was particularly ironic given that Queer Eye is a significant LGBTQIA+ franchise, and the Oath Keepers are a far-right, anti-government militia.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the @QueerEye guys are not on the same political page as the Oath Keepers.

Who watches the Oath Keepers attorney testify about a violent inserrection and thinks "wait that's the Queer Eye kitchen!"

These are the only types of people I want to be friends with.
The Venn Diagram of embracing both the Oath Keepers and Queer Eye seems…..non-existent.
