Tony Danza to Play Meta Role in And Just Like That... Season 2

Tony Danza is joining the cast of And Just Like That... as himself. 

According to Deadline, Danza will play the father of Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) in their sitcom. The Season 1 finale of the Sex and the City sequel depicted the non-binary podcast host/stand-up comedian Che moving to Los Angeles to shoot the pilot based on their family, with hopes of Danza coming aboard.

Joined by love interest Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) on the trip out west, Che shared who was reading for the part of their father. "Tony Danza is coming in to read for my father. He’s not Mexican or Irish but he is Tony Danza." 

"The studio is really excited," Che said in the finale. "They think I’m the new Roseanne, but, you know, the good one from the '80s."

It looks as though the series is making good on this fantasy casting and bringing Danza in to fill the role for Season 2. In addition to Danza, the second season of the HBO Max series will also see Sex and the City vet John Corbett return as Aidan Shaw. 

And Just Like That... Season 2 is currently in production.
