UPDATED JULY 26, 4:30 PM ET: Tony Dow, best known for playing Wally Cleaver in Leave It to Beaver is alive, despite his wife and management team announcing his death earlier Tuesday.
ABC Los Angeles reporter George Pennacchio, who spoke with Dow's wife Lauren, wrote on Facebook Tuesday afternoon that Dow's death was announced in error.
"[Dow has] been in hospice care at their home and based on some health issues overnight, Lauren inferred that Tony had passed away to some people close to her and the word quickly spread," wrote Pennacchio. "Lauren admits she's been 'a little fuzzy' these days."
"While she did say he passed, she now understands the miscommunication and is sorry for causing a commotion in this challenging time," Pennacchio adds.
His son Christopher also spoke with Fox News Digital, saying, "This is a difficult time. Yes, he is still alive, but in his last hours; under hospice care."
Dow's death was announced via his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning. The post has since been deleted.
