Ten New and Returning Shows to Watch on Netflix in November 2020

Netflix is preparing a treasure trove of holiday content, but before the festive season truly takes over, there's plenty of pre-holiday programming to look forward to. The streamer's highlights this November include the highly-anticipated fourth season of The Crown, which sees the arrival of Princess Diana (Emma Corrin) and Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson); two very different dare-based romantic comedies; and an empowering Brazilian drag queen reality series.

Here are the new releases we're most looking forward to in the coming month:

Love & Anarchy (NEW series)

Not to be confused with the 1973 Palme d'Or nominated Italian movie of the same name, this new Swedish rom-com from creator Lisa Langseth follows married consultant Sofie (Ida Engvoll) as she becomes embroiled in a boundary-pushing game with IT consultant Max (Björn Mosten, making his television debut). While Sofie restructures an established publishing house, her seemingly perfect life begins to fall apart.

Paranormal (NEW series)

Halloween might be over, but spooky content isn't just for October. Set in the 1960s and following skeptical hematology professor Dr. Refaat Ismail (Ahmed Amin), Paranormal is the first Egyptian series produced by Netflix. Dr. Ismail's long-held scientific convictions are challenged when ghostly apparitions and supernatural occurrences begin to turn his world upside down. Based on Ahmed Khaled Tawfik's best-selling thriller novels, this supernatural series could fill the ghostly hole if you've already finished The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Country Ever After (NEW series)

Opposites attract in this new reality series following singer Coffey Anderson and his dancer wife Criscilla (her credits include tours with Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Rihanna) as they navigate careers and parenthood in Los Angeles. While city versus country living throws up some roadblocks, the Anderson family has to contend with a much bigger challenge after she is diagnosed with colon cancer. The pair already have a huge social media following and this series seems bound to draw new fans to the relatable couple and their struggles.

Dash & Lily (NEW series)

Based on Rachel Cohn and David Levithan's best-selling YA book series, this whirlwind eight-episode romance should get viewers in the holiday spirit. Set in New York City, Austin Abrams (Atypical) plays the titular Dash alongside Midori Francis (Good Boys) as Lily. Dash is skeptical, Lily is optimistic, and this classic chalk and cheese pairing is elevated by a scavenger hunt across the city that demonstrates how much they actually have in common.

A Queen is Born (NEW series)

This six-part Brazilian series features drag queen superstars Alexia Twister and Gloria Groove helping artists realize their drag performing dreams. The duo assists with technical aspects like makeup, costumes, and choreography, along with a host of other complications that may be getting in the way. Featuring family members and friends who are struggling to support this path, the series celebrates finding your authentic self and taking that big leap.

The Liberator (NEW series)

Set to be released on Veteran's Day, this four-part animated series based on Alex Kershaw's nonfiction book, The Liberator: One World War II Soldier's 500-Day Odyssey takes a unique approach to WWII storytelling. Using a technique that combines CGI with live-action performances — called "Enhanced Hybrid Animation" — the story follows Captain James Felix (Bradley James) as he defies orders to fight alongside his men. Depicting the Allied invasion of Italy, “Operation Avalanche” has not been portrayed as frequently as other WWII battles, but The Liberator will show how dangerous it was.

The Crown - Season 4

The fairy tale to scandal journey of Prince Charles and Princess Diana filled newspapers and captivated the world, now The Crown has reached this unhappy union. Perhaps the most anticipated season of the series to date, the 1980s was a tumultuous time for Great Britain. This is also Olivia Colman's last turn as the monarch before the new batch of actors takes over next season. Expect plenty of pensive looks, lavish sets, and some bold fashion moments from the infamous style decade.

We Are the Champions (NEW series)

Competitions are a TV staple, but this new docuseries from executive producer Rainn Wilson explores some very unique and quirky activities. Whether it's Cheese Rolling, Fantasy Hair Styling, Dog Dancing, Frog Jumping, Yo-Yo-ing, or Chilli Eating, these bizarre endeavors feature incredibly skilled competitors striving for dominance.

Sugar Rush: Christmas - Season 2

From unusual challenges to a Netflix staple, Sugar Rush's second Christmas special will add all things jolly to its sweet treats format. Racing against the clock, the teams will have to conjure up a festive sensation if they hope to take home the big cash prize.

Virgin River - Season 2

Based on Robyn Carr's popular book series, the first season of Virgin River sucked Netflix viewers in with its fish-out-of-water story of a big city girl who moves to a remote California town to escape her problems, only to find country living isn't as simple as she thought. Season 2 sees Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) arriving back in Virgin River, where her obvious sparks with Jack (Martin Henderson) have tongues wagging all across town. Will they or won't they? And what about Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), who's carrying Jack's unborn child?
