The pandemic brought stand-up comedy to a screeching halt this year, but it's begun making a comeback in the form of Dave Chappelle's outdoor "Summer Camp" shows in Yellow Springs, Ohio and other socially-distanced performances from the likes of Chelsea Handler and Kevin Hart. Enter HBO Max, which is borrowing a page from the drive-in rallies made famous by Joe Biden to give Colin Quinn and some of his comedian friends a new venue at which to perform.
Of course, with a set-up this weird, comics are going to have to make fun of it. In this trailer for Colin Quinn & Friends: A Parking Lot Comedy Show. Dan Soder sums it up by saying "For the last two decades, comedians have been sucking our own d**ks, being like 'we're artists.' This is clear that we're just mentally ill people shouting at cars."
Filmed in Brooklyn in September, the comics performing in the special include Rich Vos, Rachel Feinstein, Bonnie McFarlane, Keith Robinson, Chris DiStefano, Marina Franklin, Dan Soder, Bobby Kelly, and Sam Jay.
Colin Quinn & Friends: A Parking Lot Comedy Show premieres Thursday, November 12 on HBO Max.
