Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson breaks down his new NBC sitcom Young Rock in this First Look, explaining the three periods of his life on which the show is focused.
Adrian Groulx plays him at age 10, when he was following his pro wrestler father "Soul Man" Rocky Johnson around the world. Bradley Constant plays him at age 15, when he was so big and so mustachioed that other kids thought he was an undercover cop. Uli Latukefu plays him in college at the University of Miami, where he became a standout football player.
We also meet Stacey Leilua, who plays his mother, and Ana Tuisila as his grandmother, the first female wrestling promoter — his grandfather was a wrestler, too, known as High Chief Peter Maivia.
Johnson, as executive producer, even got to cast actors to play all the famous wrestlers of his childhood, including Randy "Macho Man" Savage, the Wild Samoans, the Iron Shiek, Junkyard Dog, and Andre the Giant, which was no small feat.
Young Rock premieres Tuesday, February 16 at 8:00 PM ET on NBC.
