In this first look at the new FX documentary series Hip Hop Uncovered, we learn about Eugene "Big U" Henley, one of five major players behind the scenes of the genre that will be profiled in the new FX docuseries. He is part of an unprecedented production partnership that crosses the lines of the notorious gang war between the Bloods and the Crips, and his life story of crime, prison, and music coincides with the genesis of hip hop and informs much of the lyrical content of the biggest names in the business.
We also see commentary from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Ice-T, which proves the project's bona fides.
Hip Hop Uncovered premieres Friday, February 12 at 9:00 PM ET on FX.
Andy Hunsaker has a head full of sitcom gags and nerd-genre lore, and can be followed @AndyHunsaker if you're into that sort of thing.
