Nothing says "I'm a billionaire asshole" quite like launching yourself into space aboard a penis-shaped rocket and then interrupting the great William Shatner to spray champagne all over your rich friends.
On Wednesday, after he and Jeff Bezos completed their trip to space aboard Bezos' Blue Origin spacecraft, Star Trek star William Shatner said a few words about the adventure, which he described as "the most profound experience I can imagine." As Shatner attempted to distill the experience into words, Bezos interrupted him, telling the celebrating crowd nearby, "Give me a champagne bottle! Come here. I want one!"
"I want to hear this," he told Shatner, as he continued to speak over the legendary actor (an indication that, perhaps, he did not actually want to hear him). Bezos asked his space partner if he wanted any champagne, at which point Shatner shook his head ruefully and looked at the ground.
"The champagne showers have begun," said a reporter, after Bezos & Co. began spraying their bottles. "Smiles all around." Are we not watching the same footage?
