On Thursday night, Jordan Klepper brought his "Fingers the Pulse" segment to CPAC — the Conservative Political Action Conference — where he confronted the MAGA faithful about their unyielding support for former President Donald Trump.
The CPAC attendees who spoke with Klepper maintained that "Trump is the Republican Party," and they praised his "funny" personality and "stellar" record. When The Daily Show host pressed one woman about economic decline under Trump, she insisted she's only "talking about before the COVID economic collapse" that defined his final year in office. "We don't count the whole term," replied Klepper. "We can cherry-pick numbers and make him look like a fantastic president."
Though many complained about false "culture war" issues like Democrats wanting to "destroy the neutral family" and schools "indoctrinating" children into becoming trans, the "war, war" in Ukraine was a hot-button issue, as well. Various attendees blamed Biden for Putin's invasion of Ukraine, while others praised Hungarian dictator Viktor Orbán's "inspiring" leadership, and at the end of the segment, Klepper travels to Budapest to better understand the MAGA crowd's newfound obsession with Hungary. The Daily Show correspondent will further explore the surprising development in an upcoming special, Jordan Klepper Fingers the Globe - Hungary for Democracy.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11:00 PM ET on Comedy Central.
