Believe it or not, Kathy Griffin has an unlikely new Republican friend: Rep. Paul Gosar, who was recent censured and stripped of her committee assignments for posting an anime video that depicted him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and threatening President Joe Biden. During a Monday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Griffin revealed that Gosar's misstep has resulted in her "getting un-canceled" by Hollywood and the media world at large.
"So you guys know I'm canceled, right? Like, I was like, canceled canceled," Griffin told host Jimmy Kimmel. "And so I'm very slowly getting un-canceled. And what I think is funny is that people are kinda like afraid of me now and all that stuff. And you know that guy Paul Gosar made a video, and I was back in the news again? So anyway, so I think I'm gonna get un-canceled. I think I'm an actress again, guys!"
"I never acknowledged your canceling, anyway. I rejected your canceling," replied Kimmel. Griffin thanked him for his loyalty after the 2017 Donald Trump severed head incident, saying, "You are really, really, of the people I can count on one hand that rejected my cancellation."
Kimmel tried to move the discussion to Search Party Season 5, in which Griffin will play a conspiracy theorist, but the comedian and actress wasn't done with her "canceled" bit quite yet. "Apparently, the young kids don't know that I'm a 'terrorist.' You know, the MAGAs think I'm a terrorist," she said. "They don't even know that stuff, they watch the Tic-Tac. They watch the dancing on the Tic-Tac ... And so what's great is, the young gays think they've discovered me."
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 PM ET on ABC.
