Who says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get to have all the fun?
Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have launched their own YouTube channel as part of a new social media overhaul meant to modernize their image. Their first video, a 25-second "Welcome," was posted Wednesday and has already racked up nearly 1.5 million views to become the #1 trending clip on YouTube.
Part introduction, part royal docuseries, and part blooper reel, the Cambridge's "Welcome to Our Official YouTube Channel!" video previews the kind of cinéma vérité content that fans can expect over the coming months. Viewers are also encouraged to check out playlists devoted to their early years, advocacy work for mental health causes, and public engagements, among others.
A second video, the first of a series of phone calls the Duchess held with participants from the Hold Still initiative, was released this morning. While less buzzy, the six-minute clip has already been viewed 60,000 times in just two hours.
