Showtime is kicking off Black History Month by making the 2019 documentary Hitsville: The Making of Motown available in its entirety for free.
Berry Gordy created the most successful record label of all time, starting in Detroit in 1958, and this documentary film follows that story as it became a major platform for black artists as the Civil Rights movement was taking hold in America. Motown gave us Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Jackson 5, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Edwin Starr, Junior Walker & The All Stars, The Isley Brothers, and the list goes on and on.
Hitsville: The Making of Motown premiered on Showtime in August 2019, and will be available for free viewing on YouTube through the month of February.
