With Mother's Day just around the corner, Pete Davidson has his sights set on a very special gift: a free Tesla from Elon Musk. During a Tuesday appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Davidson laid out his scheme and revealed that he's eager to have an opportunity to put it into action when Musk hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend.
Given the controversy surrounding Musk's SNL hosting announcement, it was practically required for Meyers to ask about the Tesla and SpaceX CEO. Davidson said that he hadn't met Musk yet, but he's scheduled to have dinner with Musk and Lorne Michaels later that night (Late Night tapes at around 6:00 PM ET), so it's only a matter of time before that changes. Oh, to be a fly on that wall...
"I'm really excited, man. I'm going to ask him for a Tesla or some sh*t," continued Davidson. "Be like, 'Hey, Mother's Day's coming up. You know, my mom -- it would be cool.'" The SNL explained that he would "disguise it as a gift for [his] mom" so that Musk feels obligated to agree, but after his mom drives the car around a few times, he'll demand it back. "As soon as she drives it once or twice, I would take it," said Davidson.
Meyers then shifted the discussion to more pressing matters (no shade to Mother's Day). "Would you go to space if he asked you?" asked the Late Night host. "One hundred percent," replied Davidson.
"Would you get stoned with him if he asked you?" asked Meyers. "A hundred thousand percent!" said Davidson. "That guy's a genius. I don't know why people are freaking out. They're like, 'I can't believe that Elon Musk is hosting.' And I'm like, 'The guy that makes the Earth better? He makes cool things and sends people to Mars?"
Saturday Night Live, with host Elon Musk, airs this Saturday, May 8 at 11:30 PM ET on NBC.
