Stephen Colbert has watched many a presidential debate, and after Thursday's final showdown between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, he was relieved. "The highlight for me was that we'll never have to watch Donald Trump debate ever again," he said, calling it "excruciating" and comparing it to dental surgery.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert went live after the debate, and the host had plenty to say about why it hurts to watch him so much.
After the president's vague defense of his secret Chinese bank account, Colbert noted "Trump sounds like three kids stacked in a trenchcoat pretending to be an adult."
In reference to Trump referring to New York City as "a ghost town," the Late Show host responded with "Mr. President, when you come to New York, those aren't ghosts on the street. Those are people BOO-ing you."
Trump's blasé response to the 545 children his administration can't reunite with their parents bothered him, too. "Well done, Mr. President," he chided. "You managed to summon all the urgency and resolve of a guy looking under the couch for the TV remote."
