NBC has dropped the first 15 minutes of their new sci-fi series Debris, about mysterious wreckage that shows up with strange effects on gravity for those who come in contact with the fragments.
From the first minutes, we see the black market is already lucrative for these otherworldly pieces of what was presumably once an alien spacecraft, and federal agents Finola Jones (Riann Steele) and Bryan Beneventi (Jonathan Tucker) arrive at a hotel to bust up an illicit deal. The buyers manage to vanish, but the seller gets cornered and makes a desperate jump for it.
The fragment he hid away is discovered by a hotel housekeeper with stunningly tragic results, as she somehow phases through 14 floors, falling to her death. In the aftermath, we learn that Jones and Beneventi are working for separate agencies, each with their own priorities that may bring them into conflict, and that Jones's father is a physicist of some renown.
Cut to a woman driving a young boy through Wichita,as the clanging cymbals of his monkey toy seem to cause her to bleed out through her eyes. The creepy boy then pulls her corpse out of the car, and it floats away, hovering inches off the ground. That event diverts Jones and Beneventi to Kansas, and they hypothesize about what it all means before investigating this next anomaly.
Debris premieres on NBC Monday, March 1 at 10:00 PM ET.
