On May 13th, 2013, the first episode of an unassuming web series popped up on YouTube. That 90-second short, titled "Letterkenny Problems Episode 1" marked the first appearance of farmboys Wayne and Dary, and served as a springboard for what would eventually become a cult sensation both in its native Canada and here in the US.
Starring Jared Keeso and Nathan Dales as a pair midwestern Ontario hicks shooting off about everyday small-town problems, Letterkenny has grown into eight seasons of hicks (good old boys) vs. skids (meth-heads like Stewart and Roald) vs. Christians (aka Glen) vs. hockey players (Jonesy & Reilly) and all their respective romantic entanglements. In other words, it's cleverly crass Canadian comedy complete with corn-fed country charm, co-equal cornea candy, closteted Christians, and chemically-catawampus chatterboxes. (They do like their alliteration on Letterkenny.)
Eight seasons of Letterkenny are now streaming on Hulu. The show was renewed for a ninth season in June, with filming expected to begin in early 2021
