Liz Carmichael was an automotive entrepreneur who said things like "I don't want to sound like an egomaniac, but I'm a genius."
She marketed the crazy-looking three-wheeled sports car called "The Dale" in 1975, named after its designer, Dale Clifft.
But there were some significant scam-style shenanigans going on behind the scenes — so much so that she eventually wound up on Unsolved Mysteries.
The Lady and the Dale, a four-part new documentary series, premieres Sunday, January 31 on HBO Max.
Andy Hunsaker has a head full of sitcom gags and nerd-genre lore, and can be followed @AndyHunsaker if you're into that sort of thing.
