Joy Behar has a prediction: President Trump's town hall tonight will draw more viewers than Biden's. But as she puts it, that's because "people prefer to watch a trainwreck rather than watch, let's say, a course in civics, but that doesn't mean that the ratings will translate to votes."
Ana Navarro said "It feels like a spoiled child being given his way," in reference to Donald Trump refusing to engage in a virtual debate with Joe Biden, but then being offered a time slot by himself at the same time.
Sunny Hostin was "disappointed that NBC allowed him to manipulate the process," noting Carl Bernstein's tweets about how when he was ABC's bureau chief, they didn't allow presidents to dictate how and when they were covered.
Sara Haines thinks Trump's town hall is a bad idea on all sides. "The irony is that this format does not suit Trump for two main reasons," she explained. "The contrast of how good his opponent is, Joe Biden, during these types of situations where he's able to show humanity, compassion, empathy and answer voters directly, he shines brighter. And in this situation, Trump has to answer questions from voters. He can't indulge himself in interruptions... He always answers in non-answers and evades the question. So this hits him twice, and not in a good way."
