Among the broadcast networks, ABC has historically done the best job delivering scripted summer programming that feels appropriate to the season. They ran Mistresses for four consecutive summers of sexy, soapy fun. They ran six seasons of the cop drama Rookie Blue. And this summer, Poppy Montgomery stars as a criminal turned professional fixer in Reef Break. Like the very best summer series, it finds an excuse to set the show in a beachside community, where the characters can indulge in sun and surf while also attending to more professional matters.
SERIES PREMIERE: Cat Chambers returns to her hometown after a lifetime of thieving, only to find herself at the center of a kidnapping case. Reef Break gives Poppy Montgomery (Without a Trace) ample room to create a fun, charismatic character in an enviable setting. The series also stars Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), and Ray Stevenson (Thor). 10:00 PM ET on ABC
SERIES PREMIERE: NBA star Steph Curry executive produces Holey Moley: Putt Up or Shut Up, a high-octane mini-golf competition hosted by Joe Tessitore and Rob Riggle. 8:00 PM ET on ABC
NEW NIGHT AND TIME: Last week's Real Housewives of New York City showcased such dramatic fireworks between Bethenny and LuAnn that the show was blasted over to Thursday nights, where the bad blood should carry the show through to the end of the season. 9:00 PM ET on Bravo
SERIES PREMIERE: Justin Timberlake executive produces Spin the Wheel, hosted by Dax Shepard (who once brought Timberlake to tears on Punk'd). The wheel is unpredictable, but the prizes are life changing. 9:00 PM ET on FOX
