This is the kind of day DVRs were made for, with Live in Front of a Studio back recreating episodes of All in the Family and Good Times, and the season finales of Survivor and The Masked Singer all airing at the same time. Other new programming options include an early drop from The Mandalorian, the second batch of episodes from the Mad About You revival, a new Netflix series about music and love, and the finale of a life affirming show about life and its unexpected challenges. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:
LIVE EVENT: After the phenomenal success of the first installment back in May, Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear have re-teamed for Live in Front of a Studio Audience: 'All in the Family' and 'Good Times,' featuring an all-star cast of new and returning players. Primetimer's Joe Reid looked at the enduring legacy of Good Times, while Jed Rosenzweig recalled Saturday Night Live's 2004 tribute to the series (complete with appearance from original Good Times cast member, Janet Jackson). 8:00 PM ET on ABC
SEASON FINALE: After a season of highs, lows, and a never before seen producer intervention that resulted in the removal of one player, Survivor airs its season finale tonight, followed by the traditional Reunion Special, which will be taped four hours earlier due to the unusual circumstances of the past few weeks. 8:00 PM ET on CBS
SEASON FINALE: Fox is all about The Masked Singer tonight, kicking things off with a second look at the season's best performances, followed by the season finale, in which the winner will be announced and each of the three finalists will be unmasked. 8:00 PM ET on Fox
NEW EPISODE: Presumably to clear the path for Friday's theatrical release of The Rise of Skywalker, Disney+ is dropping The Mandalorian two days earlier this week, complete with what the streamer has billed as "an exclusive sneak peek" of the new film. Streaming on Disney+
SERIES PREMIERE: This is Us meets La La Land in Soundtrack, a promising new series that took a bit of a long and winding road before landing at Netflix. Good news, though: our Aaron Barnhart says it was worth the wait. Streaming on Netflix
NEW EPISODES: The last six episodes of the Mad About You revival are released today. Catch up with the Buchmans one last time before the holidays. There's no word yet on whether the show will return for future seasons. Streaming on Spectrum
SERIES FINALE: After four seasons, The Emmy-wining docuseries Born This Way returns for a heartwarming special finale set during the Christmas season. Watch the preview. 9:00 PM ET on A&E
