HBO's new Danish language limited series The Investigation doesn't play by the established rules of true crime TV. Based on the real-life 2017 murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, the six-part series doesn't linger on the gruesome details of Wall's violent death, nor does it depict (or even mention by name) her murderer. In the process, it manages to tell a gripping true crime story that puts its victim at the center, rather than her killer. The show's first episode premieres tonight on HBO.
