Lisey's Story and Sweet Tooth Lead a Weekend of Premieres and Finales

    Streaming takes center stage in a crowded weekend of premieres and finales. On Netflix, DC Entertainment and Robert Downey Jr. adapt comic series Sweet Tooth into a fantasy epic about half-human, half-animal children, while Mae Martin lightens things up with Feel Good’s final season. Over in Apple world, the streamer bows Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story, starring Julianne Moore and Clive Owen, and draws The Mosquito Coast to a close in the season finale.

    Also: Blanca (Mj Rodriguez) rushes to get Pray Tell (Billy Porter) medication in the Pose series finale, Juno Temple stars in Little Birds on Starz, and Disney+ lifts the paywall on Raya and the Last Dragon. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this weekend:

    FRIDAY JUNE 4

    COMPLETE FIRST SEASON: A young boy who is half-human, half-deer searches for a new beginning in Sweet Tooth, an adaptation of the comic book series written and illustrated by Jeff Lemire. The fantasy drama stars Christian Convery as the hybrid child, and Will Forte as his father. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    SEASON PREMIERE: Stephen King and J.J. Abrams’ partnership continues with Lisey’s Story, a thriller that follows Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore) two years after the death of her husband, novelist Scott Landon (Clive Owen). Lisey is coping with her grief, but she begins to unravel when a series of unsettling events cause her to face memories of her marriage that she's deliberately blocked out of her mind. Watch trailer.     SEASON FINALE: Apple's twisty drama The Mosquito Coast wraps its first season with Allie (Justin Theroux) and his family fighting for their lives following the massacre at the motel. The series was renewed for a second season earlier this week. Streaming on Apple TV+

    COMPLETE SECOND SEASON: Mae (Mae Martin) enters rehab in the second and final season of Feel Good, where she realizes that she must deal with her past in order to move forward. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    ORIGINAL MOVIE: Three months after Raya and the Last Dragon debuted on Premier Access, Disney+ is making the animated film available for free to all subscribers. The action-adventure flick follows a young warrior (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran) who enlists the land’s lone dragon (Awkwafina) to help her save the earth. Watch trailer. Streaming on Disney+

    ORIGINAL MOVIE: Halloween comes early to HBO Max with the debut of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, also known as The Conjuring 3. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as paranormal investigators in supernatural horror sequel, which debuts on the small screen day-and-date with its theatrical release.     COMPLETE FIRST SEASON: Amazon’s first scripted Brazilian original series, Dom tracks the true story of a father and son on opposite sides of Rio de Janiero’s war on drugs. Watch trailer. Streaming on Amazon Prime Video

    ORIGINAL MOVIE: A retired hitman executes revenge on his brother in Netflix’s Spanish-language thriller Xtreme, starring Teo García, Óscar Jaenada, Óscar Casas, and Andrea Duro. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

    SUMMER PREMIERE: 911 operators across the country get the Emergency Call when the docuseries returns to ABC tonight. In the summer premiere, teenage girls in Austin, Texas narrowly escape a possible kidnapper, and a woman in Wasilla, Alaska goes into anaphylactic shock after getting stung by a bee.     MADE FOR TV MOVIE: Annabeth Gish stars as Jennifer Dulos, a Connecticut mother who mysteriously disappeared in May 2019, in Gone Mom, Lifetime’s ripped-from-the-headlines drama about the still-unsolved case. Watch trailer. 8:00 PM ET on Lifetime
