Al Roker revealed that he has prostate cancer on The Today Show on Friday.
"It's a good news, bad news kind of thing," Roker said of his diagnosis. "Good news is we caught it early, not great news is that it's a little aggressive."
Roker said he will be taking some time off, but wanted to go public with it because prostate cancer is more common than most people think, and even moreso for African-American men. "One in nine men are going to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, but for African-American men, that number is one in seven and is more deadly. So if you detect it early, this is a really treatable disease."
