Lucy the Human Chimp Trailer Looks at the Extraordinary Bond Between Human and Ape

This trailer for the upcoming documentary Lucy the Human Chimp explores the remarkable bond between psychologist Janis Carter and a chimpanzee who had been raised as a human and taught sign language by Dr. Maurice Temerlin and his wife Jane. When Lucy became too strong to remain in the home where she was raised, she was taken to a research center in Gambia to try to acclimate her to life with other chimps, and Carter followed and stayed with her to help her in this process for years. 

Lucy the Human Chimp premieres April 29 on HBO Max.
